Opportunity

Urbana needed 15,000+ square feet of flexible, youth-centered programming — a challenge that called for thoughtful interior design services and an adaptive reuse within a $1.5 million budget.

Approach

DAC’s delivered flexible spaces for K–12 after-school activities, mentoring, recreation, and Latchkey programming. We aligned the commercial architecture with U.S. Department of the Interior guidelines, coordinated public funding, and kept the building fully occupied throughout construction.

Impact

The project met U.S. Department of the Interior preservation guidelines, enabling eligibility for a 25% historic tax credit while remaining within a $1.5 million budget. DAC coordinated public funding requirements and maintained full building occupancy throughout construction.
